TIFR GS (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Graduate School Admissions) is a nationwide entrance exam conducted by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in order to provide admission to candidates in postgraduate Science courses offered by it.


Important Dates 2020

Nationwide Entrance Examination:
Sunday, December 8, 2019

Last date for application:
November 23, 2019

Hall Ticket download start date:
November 29, 2019

GATE Scored based applications to Systems Science (including Communications and Applied Probability):
Opens : February 5, 2020
Closes : Two weeks after GATE2020 results declared.

Results of the Nationwide Entrance Examination (shortlist for interviews) : By end-January 2020.


Eligibility
Candidates in the final year of qualifying degree can also apply.

Mathematics:
For Ph.D. : M.A./M.Sc./M.Tech.
For I-Ph.D. : B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. (Students already having/completing an M.Sc. degree by July 2020 are not eligible for I-Ph.D.).


Admission Procedure

The admissions procedure consists of an online test at one of the several nationwide centres, followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to be held during end-February to early-April, 2020. Exact dates would be announced later.

Results of the entrance exam will be announced on end-January, 2020 and students shortlisted for interview will be intimated by email.

from its very inception.

The work of the School of Mathematics has led to
a variety of important new theorems, concepts,
techniques and conjectures that have enriched the
discipline. In addition to its research activities, the
School and its members are actively engaged in
advanced training in mathematics through summer
schools for university teachers and young students,
and through interaction with universities.
