Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata (IISER) is a research and education institute in Nadia district, West Bengal, India. It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2006.

Doctor of Philosophy Programme-

The Institute offers Doctorate degree in the fields of Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical and Earth Sciences.
The applicants who has their own fellowships (such as, UGC/CSIR-NET, INSPIRE etc) may apply at any time of the year.
The candidates who do not have their own fellowship must apply through the bi-annual selection process.

Eligibility: The candidate must have Masters degree with 55% marks from any recognized University/Institute or its equivalent. Final year Masters students who are yet to obtain their degree may also appear in the admission procedure.

How to apply: You have to properly fill the application form and submit.Yuo can get the application form on to the official website. Applicants should save the properly filled application form and take a print as the hard copy of the application. Please have a scanned passport sized photograph ready before applying. The photograph should be in jpeg format and the size should not exceed 200KB.

The candidates selected for the interview should bring the following documents along with the application form:

-Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from high school leaving
-Two passport size photographs
-Photo identity and proof of age.
-Two letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes)
-A statement of purpose (not exceeding 300 words)

Selection: Based on merit, subject specialization and required research area. The selected candidates will receive the offer letter containing also the last date for joining shortly after the interview.
