Anil Agarwal, an Indian businessman, based in London who heads Vedanta Resources corporation and Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Orissa, had signed a agreement in order to create a world class university, Vedanta University.

This university was going to be non profit venture that was going to be established by the funds of the Anil Agarwal.


The Govt passed the act in year 2009 to let the set up of the university.

Following are some of the courses that are going to be taught at the university –

Engineering
Medicine
Business
Liberal Arts
Sciences
Law
Performing Arts.

According to the information that is available with us the construction of the university was cancelled by the Supreme Court of the country due to environmental violations by the university in year 2010..
