The MSc in Environmental Technology provides the highest standard of knowledge and skills development for environmental specialists. MSc in Environmental Technology Through the course students acquire a diverse range of discipline-specific problem-solving frameworks for tackling contemporary environmental issues. Entry requirements- The College’s minimum is UK 2.2 Honours (or overseas equivalent). However, for candidates with a 2.2 Honours without work experience, their course has an internal mechanism, under which a request for approval has to be made by the Option Convenor to the Director of the course before an offer is made. Exceptions for mature/experienced students with a 3rd class degree and more than 3 years’ work experience, can be requested as a special case, which is normally prepared by the Option Convenor and has to be agreed by the Course Director before submission to the Graduate School Panel for consideration. The minimum score for IELTS is 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in all elements). For details of IELTS test centres, visit the IELTS website. Alternatively, contact your nearest British Council office if you are not a UK resident. IELTS scores will only be valid if they are less than two years old on the programme start date. Fees and funding- 2015-16 Fees Home/EU Full-time – £10,000; 2 years part-time – £5,000 per year Overseas Full-time – £25,500; 2 years part-time – £12,750 per year Course Structure- First term - core modules The first term Core Course comprises modules in: Ecology in Context Environmental Pollution and Control Environmental Policy and Management Environmental Law Environmental Economics Quantitative Skills and Uncertainty Second term - the Options This broad training of the core course is followed by an in-depth education in many specialised areas, whilst maintaining the course's interdisciplinary nature. The specialist options in the second term are designed to cater for a variety of individual interests and career requirements. A strong case study approach is employed with emphasis on working in teams, decision-making, strong analytical skills and report preparation. The eight specialist options currently offered on the course include: Business and environment (B&E) Environmental resource management (EM) Energy policy (EP) Environmental analysis and assessment (EA&A) Environmental economics and policy (EE&P) Global environmental change and policy (GECP) Pollution management (PM) Water management (WM) Health and the Global Environment (HGE) Third term - projects Specialisms are further developed in the final five months of the course, during which an in-depth individual research project is conducted. Projects vary widely in their nature, including desk, field and laboratory.
