Admissions to MBBS and BDS programmes in Annamalai University will be done on the basis of NEET scores. Annamalai University MBBS Eligibility Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board/any other equivalent Board in one- Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. (or) Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject. Candidates who have passed the HSC in the Vocational Stream and private candidates are not eligible to apply for Medical/ Dental Courses. Minimum Marks- Other Communities A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks Backward Class and Backward Class Muslim A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks. Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste–Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribes A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together. A minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks The minimum marks for the candidates under Orthopaedically Physically Disabled Category – (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) is as follows. OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DNC – 45% marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying examination. SC, SCA and ST – 40% marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying examination. Age Limit: Candidates should have completed Seventeen years of age on or before 31 of December. Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu. Method of Selection and Admission Ranking made on merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the science subjects in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks. The marks obtained through different boards taken into account after normalization. Calculation Weighted Total Marks for a maximum of 200 Percentage in Biology (after normalization) (X) Percentage in Physics and Chemistry taken together (after normalization) (Y) Percentage in Botany and Zoology taken together (after normalization) (Z) Weighted total marks for a maximum of Either (X+Y) OR (Y+Z) The percentage and the weighted total accurate to two decimals.
