The Institution of Engineers of India (IEI) is the national organisation of engineers in India. The IEI was founded in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935.

AMIE Courses :

Associate member (AMIE) – requires an undergraduate degree in engineering and passing Section A and B examinations (see below).

Chartered Engineer (CEng) – includes all AMIE, carries certain legal privileges and signing powers

Professional Engineer (PEng) – includes all AMIE with 7 years of experience, carries certain legal privileges and signing powers

National Recognition Information Centre of United Kingdom recognised Sections A and B of The Institution of Engineers (India) as comparable to British Bachelor (Honours) degree standard.


USA
Evaluation World LLC., Credential Evaluation Service, USA has evaluated Section A and B of the Mechanical Engineering Branch of The Institution of Engineers (India), India and has found it equivalent to a bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a regional Accredited College or University in the United States of America.

Australia accepts Sections A & B pass students as Engineering Professionals for employment.


COEPP, Bahrain
The Committee for Organizing Engineering Professional Practice (COEPP), Bahrain recognized Sections A and B examinations of The Institution of Engineers (India) in different engineering disciplines as equivalent to a normal Bachelor of Engineering degree of an accredited Indian University.
