Hi I would like to have the information about the Satish Ramnath Shetye as well as the details about his biography including the connection with University of Goa?

Satish Ramnath Shetye is an Indian geophysicist, oceanographer and a previous bad habit chancellor of the University of Goa. He is a previous executive of the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and is known for his looks into on the rainstorm driven streams along the Indian coast.

He is a chosen individual of all the three noteworthy Indian science foundations viz. Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India[6] and also the Indian Geophysical Union.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the summit organization of the Government of India for logical research, granted him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the most noteworthy Indian science grants for his commitments to Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences in 1992

Biography

Satish Ramnath Shetye, born on 25 October 1950 in the Indian territory of Goa, did his graduate degree in material science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai in 1973 and moved to the US to secure a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Washington in 1982.

He proceeded in the US to finish his post-doctoral work at a similar college amid 1975-82 and came back to India to join the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in 1982 as an examination associate.

He served the organization in different limits; as Scientist-Grade C (1984– 89), Scientist-Grade E-I (1989– 92), Scientist-Grade E-II (1992– 97) and Scientist-Grade F (1997-2004) preceding turning into the chief in 2004.

In 2012, He was delegated as the bad habit chancellor of the University of Goa with his residency running till 2015, however was given an expansion of one year. He resigned from service in 2016, succeeded by Varun Sahni.

Awards and Honors

The Indian Academy of Sciences picked Sheteye as a Young Associate in 1984; the foundation would respect him again with a chose partnership in 1992.
