Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE) is a laboratory of the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) located in Bangalore.

It is the main DRDO lab involved in the Research & Development of Airborne Electronic Warfare and Mission Avionics systems.

It has 2 major wings– the Electronic Warfare (EW) wing and the Mission Avionics Wing (MAW). The EW wing concentrates on development of Radar Warning Systems and EW suites for aircraft. The MAW conducts Research and Development in the area of Mission Avionics. It also conducts testing and integration of the systems into aircraft.

Awards

ASIEO was awarded Silicon Trophy for best systems Laboratory of DRDO for 1986.

ASIEO was awarded the Titanium Trophy of DRDO for 1995.

Project TEMPEST team won DRDO Performance Excellence award of Rs 10 lakhs for 1998.

Shri S Bimalkhedkar, Scientist - G, was Awarded Scientist of the Year - 1993, for his significant contributions to the development of Airborne Electronic Warfare systems.

Shri RP Ramlingam, Director, was Awarded Scientist of the Year - 1985, for the development of Beam Steering Computer for the Phased Array Systems.

Shri V. Desikan, Scientist - E, was Awarded Scientist of the Year - 1983, for designing Tele Command Systems for a Missile Target and unmanned air vehicles

Shri Durbha Venkateshwarlu, Scientist - G, was Awarded Scientist of the Year - 1998, for his significant contributions to the development of Airborne Electronic Warfare systems.

Shri B. Mathiazhagan, Senior Technical Assistant, receiving DRDO award for Best Technical Performance - 1998

Smt P. Radhika, Scientist - D, was Awarded DRDO Young Scientist Award - 2003, for her significant contribution to OFP software and software tools of TARANG RWR system

Shri RP Ramlingam, Director and his team was awarded the Agni Award for Excellence in Self-Reliance - 2003 for development of Mission Computer for fighter aircraft.

Smt. Usha Technical Officer - A, receiving the DRDO Best Technical Performance Award - 2004

Dr K.G.Narayanan was Awarded the "National Systems Gold Medal for the year 2000" instituted by Prof R Subbayyan in recognition of his outstanding contributions for the development of Defence Systems like Electronic Warfare Systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems, Flight Simulation and Avionics for LCA. This Gold Medal was awarded on 07 Dec 2000 during the 24th National Systems Conference held at ISAC, Bangalore

Dr KG Narayanan was awarded the Om Prakash Bhasin award - 1999 for excellent contributions in Electronics and Information Technology

Dr KG Narayanan was awarded the Flt Lt Tanmaya Gold Medal for Avionics by the IETE in 1995.
