Transfer
There are two type of transfers available in the dept.
1. Annual General Transfer

2. Inter Charge Transfer

Transfer is possible but it’s not too certain or easy thing to happen. There are number of points which must be in your favour simultaneously like
1.There must be vacancies in the zone you want to get transferred into.

2.You must have a valid grounds for applying for ICT cited in CBDT circular or else 3 years of service.

3.Administration of both the zones must be cooperative nd liberal. Etc.

Office timings
Office timings are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It may differ slightly zone to zone. Generally don’t have to work beyond the office hours.In March in Assessment section you may have to work beyond the hours but it’s beneficial for your learning

Job Description
Your work profile will depend upon where you are posted.

If you are posted in assessment, you are supposed to do the work related to assessment of the income tax of an individual or a partnership firm or even a company.

In addition to that, you will be responsible for feeding that data in the computer. He could also be asked to do any clerical work like work related to DIARY AND DISPATCH, noting, drafting etc. He could also be asked to accompany the RAID team.

If you are posted in non assessment, you are supposed to do only clerical work.

This cycle of assigning of working seats keeps changing periodically.

Tax Assistant in CBDT career path
As Tax Assistant in CBDT, you will have the following career path
Sr Tax Assistant
Income Tax Inspector (ITI)
ITO (Group-B gazetted)
Assistant commissioner.
