11th month training is provided by Combined Defence Services for training. Candidates finally selected undergo a course of training for about 11 months. The OTA training is for short term while IMA, INA, AFA training is for a longer duration. According to the initially announced vacancies at the Officers Training Academy for its Short Service Commission course, 175 seats are available for males and 12 for females. Gentlemen/lady cadets are dealt with the ordinary disciplinary purposes under the rules and regulations of the Officer's Training Academy. No candidates are normally permitted to resign while they are under training. However, Gentlemen Cadet resigning after the commencement of training may be allowed to proceed home if their resignation is accepted by Army HQ. A Gentlemen/lady Cadet who is not considered suitable to complete the full course of training may be discharged with permission of the Government. On joining OTA, candidates are not permitted to appear for any examination/interview, for any other type of commission/entry in the Army, Navy and Air Force or any other employment without resigning from the Academy and paying the cost of training. Exam Pattern The UPSC CDS will have the following exam pattern for: For Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy English: 100 Marks General Knowledge: 100 Marks Elementary Mathematics: 100 Marks Total: 300 Marks Subject No. of Questions Marks English 120 100 General Knowledge 120 100 Elementary Mathematics 100 100 Total 340 300
