Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IITG or Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati does not offer MA in Economics instead it only offers MA in Development Studies.

The M. A. Programme in Development Studies is a multi-disciplinary programme and was initiated in 2009. It is designed to provide an understanding of various perspectives of development issues, through rigorous course works and guided research. The perspectives are drawn from different disciplines of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
