Shivaji University, set up in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and originator of the Maratha domain Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was initiated on eighteenth November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. One of the significant destinations behind establishment of this University was to take into account the provincial needs of South Maharashtra.

the University began working with 34 associated schools and around 14000 understudies with 5 Post-graduate Departments on the grounds.
