Default Re: JNU CPS Syllabus

The M. Phil programme offered by CPS JNU or Centre for Political Studies - Jawaharlal Nehru University is spread over four semesters and one is expected to complete the course in the first two semesters.

One must obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.00. One who obtains a CGPA of less than 5.00 in the course work is not eligible to submit dissertation and is disqualified from earning the M. Phil degree.

One admitted to the M. Phil programme must offer four courses, two of which are compulsory. The compulsory courses are:

1. Philosophy and Methods in Social Sciences
2. Approaches, Concepts and Methods of Political Analysis

The two compulsory courses are designed to equip and train one in the methods and techniques of political research, along with an introduction to methodological debates and issues in social sciences, and to the basic approaches and concepts of political analysis.

The third and fourth courses, which every one must take, are optional courses, which one may select in consonance with the research interests. The choice of the optional is decided by the research needs and specialization stream chosen by one.
