Re: Tax Assistant CPT
In SSC (Staff Selection Commission) CGL exam if one qualified for CSS post then have to give a skill test called CPT (Computer Proficiency Test). And if someone qualifies for Tax Assistant post of non-interview posts then will be called for typing test. CPT for CSS It includes the test of following topics. 1. Typing Test @ 27 WPM --- {Time: 15 Minutes} 2. Spread Sheets (MS Excel Test) --- {Time: 15 Minutes} 3. Presentation Test (MS Power-point) --- {Time: 15 Minutes} Typing Test for Tax Assistant It only includes a typing for 15 Minutes. And one has to type the printed passage in the computer in 15 Minutes. That means 27 WPM speed. Both the tests are qualifying in nature. One just has to pass them. Usually, one’s ability to work on computers is judged on three basic computer applications. So there are three modules each for 15 minutes. 1. Module 1 – Test on Microsoft Word 2. Module 2 – Test on Microsoft Excel 3. Module 3 – Test on Microsoft Powerpoint Module 1 One will be given a printed passage, and have to type it within 15 minutes (2000 key depressions). This is not really too difficult for anyone who has some experience of typing on a computer keyboard. In Module 2 One is given a printed table which has to be created in Excel. One will also be asked to calculate some simple stuff like percentage, absolute increase/decrease, profits etc. using Excel formulas. It can be easily done by anyone who has some basic exposure to Excel. No complicated formulas are asked. Module 3 tests on making slides (Microsoft Powerpoint). One will be given a printed copy of one (or maximum 2) slides. And then have to make it on computer in 15 minutes. There will also be instructions to change the font and size of text, use bullets, change header/footer, insert date, change filename etc. All basic stuff, assuming you have created a few ‘PPT’ files in your life. Prepare for Typing Test for both CSS & TA It is always good to have separate keyboard if having a laptop. Use Notepad/Wordpad for typing practice as they are very similar to the typing software of SSC. One can use any passage from kid’s books, magazine, newspaper or any other printed material for typing. Make sure to type maximum words in 15 minutes only. One can check your speed by copy-pasting the material you have typed in Notepad into the MS Word as it will tell number of words typed. Just divide the number of words by 15 as e typed that material in 15 minutes. And in that way one will know speed.
