The Tickets Fare charged by Shenzhen Subway for Metro are as follows: The starting fare is CNY2 for the first 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) and CNY1 is added for the next 2.5 miles (4 kilometers). After 7.5 miles (12 kilometers), it will be CNY1 every extra 4-mile (6-kilometer). After 15 miles (24 kilometers), it will charge CNY 1 per extra 5-mile (8-kilometer). Ticket Types Shenzhen subway adopts the following three common types of tickets: Single Journey Ticket (Token) Single journey ticket is a green or yellow RFID plastic token, while the Transportation Card is a smart card similar to the Octopus Card used on the MTR rail lines in Hong Kong. It can be purchased at a vending machine. One can buy as many as 8 tickets at one time, so repeat the procedure for more tickets. Ticket vending machine only accepts CNY0.5 and CNY1 coins, CNY5 and CNY10 bank notes. Shenzhen Tong Pass (local transportation card) One using Local Transportation Card can receive a 5% discount. The card is easy to use just wave it in front of the card reader at all entrances and exits. It can be reloaded at the value add machines. As the machine only accepts CNY50 and CNY100 bank notes, the minimum value added would be CNY50. One-day Travel Pass The pass is sold CNY20 and could be purchased at any ticket booths set at Customer Service Centers of metro stations. It cannot be recharged. One could take all the city's metro lines without limit in 24 hours after the first use. Besides, this pass is not required to be returned after use. Preferential Prices 1. Children under the height of 4 feet (1.2 meters) can ride for free when accompanied by an adult. If there is one adult with more than one kid, only one of the kids is free of charge and the rest of them should buy full price ticket.
