Can you tell me about the eligibility requirement for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program offered by National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal?

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal conducts admission to full time and part time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program. Full-time PhD research scholars are eligible to receive fellowships as per MHRD norms/institute rules.

The PhD Programs, in Full-time (FT) and Part-time (PT) modes, are offered in the following Departments:

Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Engineering Communications, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Management


Eligibility Criteria
Indian Nationals having the following qualifying degree can apply for admission into PhD Programs

For Full Time PhD in Engineering Programs:
One should have M.Tech/ME or equivalent degree.
One should have passed the prescribed qualifying exam in first class with a CGPA of at least 6.5/10 (6.0/10 for SC/ST candidates) or minimum 60% aggregate marks (55% marks for SC/ST candidates)
One who has completed M.Tech/M.S programs through GATE score (or) who already possesses a valid GATE score are eligible for admission with institute fellowship as per MHRD norms

For Full Time PhD in Science & Humanities Programs:
One with valid GATE/NET scores only, is eligible for admission.
One should have M.Phil or equivalent degree, or M.Sc/M.Sc (Tech)/MA or equivalent degree
Admission is open to one who passed the prescribed qualifying exam in first class with a CGPA of minimum 6.5/10 (6.0/10 for SC/ST candidates) or minimum 60% aggregate marks (55% marks for SC/ST candidates)
One who is in final year of Qualifying Degree can also apply.

For PhD Part-Time Program
For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria for all Departments is Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of minimum 6.0 on a 10-point scale grading system, or minimum 55% marks in aggregate

Part-time PhD Program is open to:
(a) Persons working in National Research Laboratories/Govt. R&D organizations;
(b) Persons working in PSUs/Industries having a MoU with NIT, Warangal;
(c) Permanent faculty members of NIT, Warangal;
(d) Essential Requirements same as full time accept the requirement of having valid GATE score
