The Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) for Tamilnadu was established in the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in June 2004 to help rural Tamilnadu upgrade their technologies.

It is conceived by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt. of India (PSA) as a synergizing and catalyzing mechanism to provide a higher level of S&T intervention and support than till now achieved.
