Uganda management Institute (UMI) is a National Centre for Training, Research and Consultancy in the field of Administration, Leadership and Management. It was officially opened on 7th October 1969 as the Institute Public Administration (IPA), it was mandated to conduct intensive in-service training to quickly develop management capacity in the public service.

Computer Applications and the Internet

RATIONALE:
Virtually everyone uses office Applications in everyday activities, such as document processing, data computation and analysis, database management and communication. This course aims at imparting skills on how to use Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power point and Internet.

TARGET GROUP:
Working class, business men/women and students.
Prerequisite: No prior knowledge of computers is required

OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Prepare an electronic document using MS-Word
Compute and Analyze data using MS-Excel
Create databases using MS-Access
Prepare presentations using MS-Power Point
Share, research and communicate information via Internet

Word Processing using Microsoft Word 2010
Data computation and Analysis using Microsoft Excel 2010
Database Management Using Microsoft Access 2010
Designing Presentations with Microsoft Power Point 2010
E-communication with Internet

Demonstrations, group work and practical exercises.
