Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the Civil Services of India and belongs to the apex All India Services group, with other two All India Services being the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). Eligibility for Indian Forest Services Nationality: A candidate must be either: (a) A citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. Or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Age Limits: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable in the follwing cases: Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe: upto a maximum of five years. Other Backward Classes: upto a maximum of three years. State of Jammu & Kashmir (Domiciled during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to 31stupto a maximum of five years. December, 1989. Pattern for Preliminary Exam Preliminary exam will have two papers containing 200 marks for each. All questions are objective type in nature. Language mode: English and Hindi Exam duration: 2 hours Negative Marking: 1/3 marks gets deducted for every incorrect response. Pattern for Main Exam There will be six papers and all paper are required to be answered in English only. Paper I General English (300 Marks) Paper II General Knowledge (300 Marks) Papers III, IV, V and VI Applicants are required to select two subjects front the list of optional subjects Optional Subjects: Zoology, Statistics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Geology, Forestry, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Botany, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture IFS dates: 1. Date for issue of IFS notification and application form May, 2017 2. Deadline to submit the application form June, 2017 3. Examination Date November, 2017
