IAS exam is a paper-pen based competitive exam ie. CSE (Civil Service Examination) held every year. Directed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) this exam serves as a common aptitude test for other civil services like IFS, IPS, Group A and Group B central services. It is one of the toughest exams that probably requires more than one attempt to achieve success. Eligibility Applicant should be citizen of India Candidate must hold a PASS BACHELOR’S degree from any recognised University. Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the final examination or awaiting results are also eligible to apply for exam. Age limits Minimum 21 Years Maximum 32 Years Exam Pattern Total marks: 200 marks Objective Question Paper(MCQ) Question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. Duration: 2 hours Syllabus There are 2 papers in IAS exam- General Studies and Aptitude General Studies Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that donot require subject specialization General science Aptitude Syllabus Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.) English Language Comprehension skills Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level
