Kannur University is provider of National Service Scheme. The National Service Scheme of Kannur University is coming under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India.

National Service Scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969.

The National Service Scheme was established when it has 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service.
