Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) for seeking admission to the prestigious management colleges in India. The candidates aspiring to get admission to IIMs and other leading management schools need to appear for the Common Admission Test.

CAT Syllabus for Quantitative Ability

The overall topics are given as follows:

Out of 50 questions in the section Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, there are 30 questions that come from the Quantitative Ability area.

CAT Syllabus for Verbal Ability
This section basically tests the English language skill of the test takers.
The question types are divided in 2 parts, Reading Comprehension and English Usage.
The English Usage questions can be further classified into Vocabulary, Grammar and Verbal Reasoning.
There are 30 questions in this section. The following topics in this area include the following:
• Sentence Correction
• Para Jumble
• Para Completion
• Fact Inference Judgment
• Word Usage (Vocabulary)
• Fill in the blanks
• Grammar

CAT Syllabus for Data Interpretation
The questions from this area are mainly in the form of caselets.
The test takers have to analyze the data given in various ways and answer the questions.
The question types include the following:
• Pie Chart
• Bar Graph
• Line Graph
• Tables
• Combination of Graphs
• Caselet
• Data Sufficiency

CAT Syllabus for Logical Reasoning
Like Data Interpretation area, this area too consists of questions in the form of caselets.

• Venn Diagram
• Matching Puzzles
• Constraint based puzzles
