Established in 1974 as Department of Pharmacy, it was upgraded to the status of a college in 1981 and named University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The major achievements of the department like patent technology development, etc, are;

i) Pelletization technology
ii) Ointments for leprosy ulcers
iii) nasal drops for leprosy prophylaxis
iv) transdermal patches of different drugs
