Tamil Nadu Chief Minister encouraged Prime Minister to guarantee start of ventures for setting up an All India Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in the state immediately.

In a letter to PM, the CM, Tamil Nadu, alluded to a Central group's visit to Tamil Nadu in April 2015 for investigating five appropriate areas for an AIIMS Hospital.

The Tamil Nadu CM, after a declaration in the Union Budget for 2014-15 that new All India Institute of Medical Sciences would be set up in better places in the nation, she asked for one such Institute for Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, in the Union Budget 2015-16, the foundation of an AIIMS in Tamil Nadu was declared.

The CM had likewise demonstrated then that the state had officially recognized the required area in Thanjavur, Kancheepuram, Pudukottai, Erode and Madurai locale.

The Chief Minister said the "prestigious venture will give State-of-the-craftsmanship medicinal offices and administrations" to the general population of Tamil Nadu and asked for ventures for assisting the task.
