Central Connecticut State University is a regional, comprehensive public university in New Britain, Connecticut. It was established in 1849. CCSU is Connecticut's oldest publicly funded university. Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Individuals who already have an undergraduate degree and want to pursue certification as a secondary (7-12) history/social studies teachers may apply for study in the Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification, which prepares students for state certification, but does not lead to a master’s degree. To enter the Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification program at CCSU students must pass the Praxis II Social Studies: Content Knowledge test (10081) administered by ETS. Minimum requirements- Passing score on the Praxis II Social Studies: Content Knowledge test (10081) School of Education requirements 2.70 or better cumulative undergraduate GPA 3.00 or better cumulative GPA for all Social Science courses: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology A grade of “B” or better in HIST 301 OR prior approval to take HIST 301 in the semester that you apply. There are no set timetables for Post-Bac certification completion. Every student is slightly different depending on their undergraduate degree. Students must complete all general education and content classes on their Planned Program, as well as the 31 credits required in the Professional Program.
