Eligibility for the IAS Examination : Age criteria: the category wise Age limit is given below: Category Maximum Age Attempt General 32 6 OBC 32+3=35 9 SC/ST 32+5=37 As many as upto age limt Physically disabled (Blind, Deaf-mute, Orthopedic) 32+10=42 if general then 9 OBC then 9 SC/ST- then upto age limt Nationality: Nationality: candidate must be a citizen of India. a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India Education Qualification : one should have a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification or one who are in the last year of his/ her degree IS ALSO are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination. paper pattern : the IAS Examination have basically two Exams first is Preliminary Examination Main Examination . The preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of Objective type and each carry 200 marks and the main Examination consist of the subjects choosen by the candidate . the main examination consist of the written Examination and the interview.
