Preparation Tips for UPSC CMS exam :

Create a study plan

Learn the important topics of the syllabus and revise them thoroughly

Apply the elimination rule while answering the objective questions

Work upon your weak areas.
Solve as many sample papers as you can

Do not spend too much time in solving one question

Be positive and give yourself sufficient breaks in between the study schedule.

UPSC CMS Exam Pattern:

The selection process of CMS examination consists of a 500 marks written test broken into two parts – Paper I and Paper II, which is followed by a 100 marks personality test.

Written test is conducted on the computer where questions would be flashed on the screen and candidates have to mark his response using mouse.

Written exam consists of 2 papers, each of 250 marks and 2 hours. Thus, total marks and duration in the exam are 500 and 4 hours respectively.

Personality Test or Interview

The candidates who clear the written examination will be called for personality test. Merely clearing the written exam doesn’t guarantee the final selection. Total marks in the test are 200.

Candidates would be judged upon their general knowledge, ability in the academic study, critical powers of assimilation, intellectual curiosity, balance of judgment & alertness of mind, integrity of character, ability for social cohesion, initiative and capability for leadership.
