i m B.Tech in chemical and M Tech in civil engg with specialization in environmental engineering .and pursuing Ph.D in civil engineering . I m eligibile for assistant professor/lecturer in government engineering colleges or not?

Eligibility criteria:

Assistant Professor (Engineering Subjects):

Applicants must have done B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in the relevant branch of Engineering or Technology or its equivalent.

Assistant Professor (Non-Engineering Subjects):

Applicants must possess a Master degree in the relevant subject with good academic record or CGPA from a recognized university, and NET passed for Lecturers taken by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission.

Age limit:

Applicants should be less than 35 years as on July 1, 2014.

As you ask me to provide the eligibility to become assistant professor in Govt. College so here I am providing you the same

Eligibility Assistant Professor

i. Good education record with at least 55% marks at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) organized by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or fulfilling the conditions as laid down by the University (Annexure-IV) may be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor in the University.

Minimum Qualifications for Appointment Of Teaching Faculty In The Institute Of Technology/ Engineering And Technology Discipline:

1 Assistant Professor

i. First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg.) & Technology (Tech).

ii. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:

a). Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;

b). Papers presented at Conferences and / or in refereed journals.
