Qualifying Degrees and Other Academic Requirements for OCES/DGFS

For Engineering Disciplines:

The candidate must be B.E. / B.Tech. /B.Sc. (Engineering) with 60% in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering disciplines.

The candidates are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in the same engineering discipline as the qualifying degree discipline.

The applicants who have qualifying degree in branches like Industrial Production, Reliability, Aerospace, Automobile, Ceramics, Mining, Bio-Medical Electronics/ Instruments, Communication, Information Technology, Master of Computer applications, Dyes & Dye Intermediates, Architecture, Geology, Electrochemical, Energy Systems, Oils & Fats, Paints & Varnishes, Petrochemicals, Plastics, Paper, Sugar Technology, Textiles, etc, are not eligible.

For Physics Discipline

The applicant must be MSc in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Electronics or BE/ BTech in Engineering Physics with of 60% marks.

The applicants are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in physics.

The applicants who have BE (Engineering Physics) or MSc (Electronics) degree and valid GATE Score in Engineering Science are also acceptable.

For Chemistry Discipline

The applicant must have MSc in Chemistry with Physics up to BSc with 60% marks.

The applicants are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in Chemistry.

For Biosciences Discipline

The applicant must be BE/BTech/BSc (Tech) only in Food Technology with 60% marks.

The applicants are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in Life Sciences.

The applicant who have MSc with specialization in subjects like Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Marine Biology and HomeScience etc and BE/BTech/MTech in Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering are not eligible

For Radiological Safety Engineering

The applicant have MSc in Physics or Chemistry with Physics and Chemistry up to BSc with 60% marks.

The applicants having MSc in Environmental Science are not eligible.

For Geology Discipline

The applicant who have MSc in Geology/ Applied Geology with Mathematics upto BSc with 60%.

The applicants are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in
Geology / Geophysics.

For Geophysics Discipline

The applicant must be MSc in Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics with Mathematics up to BSc with 60% amrks.

The applicants are considered on the basis of Valid GATE Score in
Geology / Geophysics.

Admission to DGFS:

The applicants who meet the above given eligibility criteria are apply for DGFS provided they get admission for M.Tech in the following specializations:

(a) For Engineering Disciplines

Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Physics.

For applicants having BE (Engineering Physics) or MSc (Electronics) as qualifying degree, valid GATE Score in Engineering Science is also acceptable.

(c) For Chemistry Discipline

MSc in Chemistry with Physics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc.

Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Chemistry.

(d) For Biosciences Discipline

MSc in Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology,Biotechnology, Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Food Technology, Animal Science, Life Sciences and Biosciences

or

BE/BTech/BSc (Tech) only in Food Technology with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks.

MSc applicants should have Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc.

Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Life Sciences.

Those having MSc with specialization in subjects like Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Marine Biology and HomeScience etc and BE/BTech/MTech in Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering are not eligible.

(e) For Radiological Safety Engineering

MSc in Physics or Chemistry with Physics and Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of integrated MSc, and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc.

(f) For Geology Discipline

MSc in Geology/ Applied Geology with Mathematics upto BSc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc.

Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(g) For Geophysics Discipline

MSc in Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics with Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc.

Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(h) Those having MSc (by research) or PhD are not eligible

Admission to DGFS:

Candidates having qualifying degree in disciplines and who meet the corresponding eligibility criteria listed above are eligible to apply for DGFS provided they secure admission for MTech starting in the academic year in select institutes in specializations as listed:
