For the recruitment certain government posts the conduction of examinations started from the far behind year 1853. The Bihar public Service Commission was born on 1st april 1949, before that it was merged with Orissa and Madhya Pradesh state service commissions.

In BPSC recruitment is done by 2 methods, these are Direct Recruitment and Promotion. Direct recruitment is made by conducting competitive examinations and interviews. Promotion is given to candidates by the promotion committee. Shri Rajandhari Sinha was the first chairman of BPSC
