NID Water Service includes the following: Treated water: In this service the water is treated to drinking water through water treatment plants. NID’s treated water service areas are located in and around Grass Valley and Nevada City, Banner Mountain, the Glenbrook Basin, Loma Rica, Alta Sierra, Lake of the Pines, Penn Valley, Lake Wildwood, Smartville and North Auburn. Irrigation Water Irrigation water is used to irrigate pasture for cattle, sheep, horses and even more exotic animals such as llamas, emus and buffalo. Irrigation water fills ponds and reservoirs for stock watering, fire suppression and recreation. Fire services: Public fire hydrants served by treated water systems Private fire services served by treated water systems Public fire services served by raw water systems
