Admission to First Year Engineering courses in Maharashtra will be on basis of JEE Main. Candidates who wish to seek admission in various colleges and universities in BE / B.Tech courses must appear and qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), being conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education.

Eligibility for Appearing in JEE Main 2014

Date Of Birth
General Candidates Born or after October 01, 1989 Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates - Born or after October 01, 1984

Year Of Appearance In Qualifying Examination (Qe)
-Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2012 or 2013; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 are eligible.
-Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2011 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2015 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2014.

Number Of Attempts-

The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three)

No. Of attempts and age limit for the states of maharashtra and odisha

The age limit, for admission to institutions in these states which were earlier admitting candidates based on their state level examinations, will be as per their past practice only

For doing engineering in Maharashtra, you have to pass MHT CET.
Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is popularly known as MHT CET.
This is an annual entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) for the admission to into engineering undergrad courses.

Eligibility:
The Candidate is required to pass class XII or equivalent exam with physics and math as compulsory subjects and any one of chemistry/biology/biotechnology/computer science as optional.

It is necessary to pass the qualifying exam with at least 50% marks (45% for backward classes and PwD students).

Exam pattern

There shall be 2 papers in the JEE Main paper 1 and paper 2.
Paper 1 will be conducted for B.Tech/B.E. and paper 2 will be conducted for B.Arch
Paper 1 will be held in online and offline mode
Question paper will be formed from class XI, XII syllabus
Questions will be asked from math, physics and chemistry
All the sections will carry equal marks weight
Candidates would be asked multiple choice questions
They need to mark the correct option out of given 4
Each wrong answer will get negative of ΒΌ marks
Each correct answer will get 1 mark
No marks will be cut for un-attempted question
Online exam needs marking options using mouse
Offline exam needs marking options by darkening of correct option
