What is Physical fitness criteria required for Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Exam???

Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Exam you need to appear for the Civil Service exam conducted by UPSC once every year. The Physical Requirements are as following:

Physical Standards


Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination of a particular year as per guidelines given in Rules for Examination published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary during the year of examination.

Physical Requirements--

Height:
Male candidate’s height should be 165 cm
Female candidate’s height should be 150 cm

Chest:
Male Candidates 84 cm & expansion 5 cm
Female Candidates 79 cm & expansion 5 cm

Other Requirements for IAS Exam

Nationality:
You must be either:
A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limits:
-You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August of the year in which examination is being held.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :
-upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST)
-upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
-upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.
-upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
-upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2012 and have been released .

General category 4
Physically handicapped belonging to general category 7
Other backward classes 7
SC/ST candidates Unlimited
