Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is conducted jointly by the IISc and seven Indian Institutes of Technology, The GATE score is used for admission in Post graduate courses The validity of GATE score is of two years & even you have a chance to improve your rank in GATE. If you have written GATE last year and again this year, both the cards are valid for admission. If you will get better than previous rank then you can use your better rank to take admission in M.Tech colleges. It depends upon you that from which rank you want to take admission in any college. You can submit your any of the GATE Rank which will be better of them.

Valid GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering score is a term which is a little confusing for students as everyone got a GATE score and think its valid that is why they have score. There are two things related with it: One is valid time period and qualifying marks. Both the conditions should be satisfied to apply for admission in a particular institution. Its score is usually valid for 2 years, for example if you give GATE 2015 and your marks are above qualifying marks, you are eligible for 2016 for Master of Engineering admissions. But in 2017 your score is considered as invalid. The next condition is about qualifying marks. Just getting score does not show that its valid GATE score. One’s score is only valid when it is above or equal to the score of qualifying marks. For example, if one has 20 marks and the qualifying marks for that year are mentioned as 25, then the GATE score is not valid. Suppose for this year one got 20 marks and qualifying score was 25, if next year qualifying marks decreased to 18, then the results for the same years is considered for valid and invalid scores.
