What is Academics Gap Mean???

Will you please tell me what does gap in academics mean????

After passing 12th class, most of the student prepare themselves for Entrance exam for admission in top colleges and take admission after preparing themselves for one year after 12th class, and then this one year time period is known as academic gap.

Some reasons of this academic gap are here-

- Some student prepares for the various entrance exam for there higher education in the engineering and medical
- Some family problems they are not able to take admission
- Due to some diseases/fitness problem they are not able to get admission
- Not getting the right career guidelines
- Failing in the first year of there exams
