Default Re: Aptitude problems tips to solve

As you want to get the tips to solve the questions based on Aptitude so here is the information of the same for you;

Tip #1
The very first step to prepare well for quantitative aptitude is to know well about the types of questions that are covered under this heading. This can be done by a little bit of research and by taking up the questions of this section.

Tip #2
Once you know about the types of questions, one by one take up these types and start preparing.

Tip #3
Since this whole section requires a lot of mathematical ability you should revise the basics of mathematics off and on.

Tip #4
When you start preparing for a question type take up as many questions as you can from good books and papers and try solving them.

Tip #5
Do not consider any type less important or insignificant because you never know which question type may be highlighted in this section.

Tip #6
Also, if you are unable to solve a few questions do make it a point to get it solved from a senior, teacher or a fellow student. Don't leave any question unsolved.

Tip #7
Quantitative aptitude forms a major section in many significant entrance exams so it shouldn't be taken lightly and must be practiced on a regular basis so that you are in touch with these types of questions.

Tip #8
Once you get in a habit of attempting these questions start focusing on your accuracy. Though it is important to attempt all questions it is equally important to do them accurately.

Tip #9
Practice, practice and practice. The more you practice the higher accuracy level you achieve. Only practice can help in a good preparation.

Tip #10
After you've worked on achieving a high accuracy level, you need to learn the technique of time management because it is important to attempt the questions correctly in a given amount of time. You can not just sit for hours solving one question. This again can be achieved by a lot of practice.

Default Re: Aptitude problems tips to solve

Ok, as you want the Tips to solve Aptitude questions so here I am providing you some best tips to solve Aptitude questions.

To solve questions of format-
"What is x% of y?"

Every word or symbol in this sentence needs to be translated into math.

“What” always represents a variable; let’s use x.

The verb (is, was, are) always represents an equals sign.

For any percentage, we write a fraction with the given number over 100.

“Of” always represents multiplication.

Ex-

Let’s solve the problem

“What is 30% of 80?”

Now, we can write: x = 30/100 * 80 and we do the math to solve for x.
The answer is 24.

One other type of calculation for converting fractions, decimals to percents.

Percent to Decimal: move the decimal point two places to the left. For example, 42% = 0.42.

Percent to Fraction

42% = 42/100 = 21/50.

Decimal to Percent: move decimal point two places to the right, For example, 1.6 = 160%.

Fraction to Percent: first convert fraction to decimal, then follow the directions to convert from decimal to percent. For example, 5/6 = 0.833 repeating = 83 and 1/3 %.

Some Important formulas to solve aptitude questions

Formulas of Number Series

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + … + n = n(n + 1)/2
(12 + 22 + 32 + ..... + n2) = n ( n + 1 ) (2n + 1) / 6
(13 + 23 + 33 + ..... + n3) = (n(n + 1)/ 2)2
Sum of first n odd numbers = n2
Sum of first n even numbers = n (n + 1)

Mathematical Formulas

(a + b)(a - b) = (a2 - b2)
(a + b)2 = (a2 + b2 + 2ab)
(a - b)2 = (a2 + b2 - 2ab)
(a + b + c)2 = a2 + b2 + c2 + 2(ab + bc + ca)
(a3 + b3) = (a + b)(a2 - ab + b2)
(a3 - b3) = (a - b)(a2 + ab + b2)
(a3 + b3 + c3 - 3abc) = (a + b + c)(a2 + b2 + c2 - ab - bc - ac)
When a + b + c = 0, then a3 + b3 + c3 = 3abc
(a + b)n = an + (nC1)an-1b + (nC2)an-2b2 + … + (nCn-1)abn-1 + bn

Shortcuts for number divisibility check

A number is divisible by 2, if its unit's digit is any of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.
A number is divisible by 3, if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.
A number is divisible by 4, if the number formed by the last two digits is divisible by 4.
A number is divisible by 5, if its unit's digit is either 0 or 5.
A number is divisible by 6, if it is divisible by both 2 and 3.
A number is divisible by 8, if the number formed by the last three digits of the given number is divisible by 8.
A number is divisible by 9, if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9.
A number is divisible by 10, if it ends with 0.
A number is divisible by 11, if the difference of the sum of its digits at odd places and the sum of its digits at even places, is either 0 or a number divisible by 11.
A number is divisible by 12, if it is divisible by both 4 and 3.
A number is divisible by 14, if it is divisible by 2 as well as 7.
Two numbers are said to be co-primes if their H.C.F. is 1. To find if a number, say y is divisible by x, find m and n such that m * n = x and m and n are co-prime numbers. If y is divisible by both m and n then it is divisible by x.

I hope it will definitely help you.
