What is the procedure to join Indian Military Academy? Indian Military Academy, Dehradun is one of the leading part of the Indian army. There are four options to get into the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. These are followings. Combined Defence Service Examination(CDSE) The other entries are Non UPSC entries: in this type of entry, there is no need of written exam, applicant will directly called for written exam. Here, I am giving you eligibility criteria to for above entries. Combined Defence Service Examination(CDSE) Qualification: Candidate need to in final year of Graduation. Selection Criteria: Applicants need to clear the Combined Defence Services Exams conducted by UPSC, after it selected candidate will called for the SSB interview and after interview medical test will held. Non UPSC entries: Education: Candidate need to pass 10+2 with at least aggregate of 70% is mandatory in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Selection criteria: Selection of the candidate based on the SSB interview. University Entry Scheme(Pre Final Year Students Only). This entry is for those candidate who wish to apply for Army in Pre-Final Year of Engineering. Technical Graduate Course. Candidate who are studying in final year/ have completed BE/B Tech in notified streams can also join IMA through Technical Graduate Course. The duration of training is one year. Following are the steps to get into IMA. Stage 1. Apply in response to the News paper advertisement Stage 2. Prepare for the Written test and Get through Stage 3. Appear for the SSB Interview and Get Recommended Stage 4. Appear for the Medical Examination and be declared FIT. Stage 5. Your name need to appear in the Merit List (UPSC) Stage 6. Receipt of Joining Instructions for IMA. The Indian Military Academy, Dehradun (also known as IMA) is the officer training Academy of the Indian Army. IMA was established in 1932. IMA is meant for training male candidates for a permanent commission into the Indian Army. Here are the ways through which young boys can join IMA: Through NDA Exam: Passed class 12th are eligible for appearing in NDA. When you get selected in NDA and choose Army as preference then you undergo a 3 year training at NDA Khadakwasla and 1 year training after that at IMA. Notification for this is made twice a year in the month of June and Dec. Through CDSE: Male graduates can join IMA through CDSE. They have to appear for CDSE written, pass SSB, be medically fit and come in the final merit. The notification is made twice a year, since the exam is held twice a year, in the month of March/ April and September/October. Technical Graduate Course: Those who are studying in final year/ have completed BE/B Tech in notified streams can join IMA through Technical Graduate Course. The duration of training is 1 year. The notification is published in May/Jun & Nov/Dec every year. University Entry Scheme: This entry is for those of you who wish to apply for Army in Pre-Final Year of Engineering. The notification is puewspapers/employment news in May every year. Army Education Corp (AEC) TGC: You can join this Education branch of army after Post Graduation. Notification is made by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch twice a year in May/Jun and Nov/Dec. The qualification to join this branch is MA / MSC in 1st or 2nd division in notified subjects from recognized university.
