Can you tell me about the admission details and eligibility criteria for taking admission in Astronomy in Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology in India?

Admission for M.S. Programme in Astronomy and Astrophysics:

Educational Qualification
BE/B.Tech/M. Sc/M.S. or equivalent degree with first class and with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 out of 10 and with valid score in any one of the following:

a. GATE in any one of these codes: PH/EC/EE/XE
b. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)
c. UGC NET (Physical Sciences)

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Age limit:

28 years.
Age relaxation for SC/ST/Persons with disability (PWD) category as per Government of India Orders
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD is applicable as per Govt. of India Orders.
Selected candidates will be given scholarship as per AICTE norms.

The selection of students will be based on a written test in basic physics followed by an interview.

Career opportunities in the field of Astronomical Science are limitless. The aspirants can work in various observatories / laboratories / defense & space research organizations / meteorological departments.

Academic Qualification:
Passed B.E/B.Tech or AMIE in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Sciences-Electrical. /Electronics/Instrumentation/Mechatronic with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

50% marks required in Manipal University Entrance Exam.

Age Limit: No minimum age limit.

Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET)

Foreign/NRI Category:
Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Entrance Exam Pattern:
Duration- 1.30 hours.
There will be one question paper of 60 multiple choice questions (MCQ) of the objective type.
Each question carries four marks; each correct answer will be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted from the score for each wrong answer.
Each paper shall have 50 Questions from the respective disciplines and 10 questions from Engineering Mathematics
