Hello, The National Institutes of Health commonly referred as (NIH) is a biomedical research facility primarily located in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

It is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and health-related research.

The NIH conducts its own scientific research through its Intramural Research Program (IRP) and provides major biomedical research funding to non-NIH research facilities.

With the strength of 1,200 principal investigators and over 4,000 postdoctoral fellows in basic, translational, and clinical research, the IRP is the largest biomedical research institution on Earth.

SBIR program, referred to Small Business Innovation Research program, set-aside program for small business, concerns to engage in federal R&D.

SBIR subdivided into three phase, include:-

PHASE I :-

Feasibility Study
$100K and 6-month (SBIR)
or 12-month (STTR) Award.

PHASE II :-
Full Research/R&D
$750K and 2-year Award
(SBIR/STTR)

PHASE III :-
Commercialization Stage
Use of non-SBIR/STTR Funds.
