The TIFR Centre in Bangalore is a part of the School of Mathematics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.

The centre arose and evolved through efforts of the school, since the mid-seventies, to develop areas in applicable mathematics.

Research offered in following:

1. Applications of Nonlinear Functional Analysis in the Study of Differential Equations.
2. Control Aspects of Partial Differential Equations.
3. Hyperbolic Equations and Conservation Laws.
4. Homogenization and Solid Fluid Interactions.
5. Numerical Analysis of PDE (Special Reference to Atmospheric Dynamics).
6. Microlocal Analysis.

Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D Programme

Eligibility
Students possessing Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics as one of the main subjects or Engineering graduates with a strong aptitude for Mathematics are eligible to apply. Students who are in the final year of graduation may also apply.

Admission Procedure
Admission procedure consist of written test conducted by TIFR Mumbai at one of the several nationwide centres

Fellowship
The programme offers a scholarship of ₹21000/- per month and a contingency grant of ₹25000/- per annum for the first year
