Can you tell me about the tentative exam and form dates for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for M.Tech/ M.E admissions in Tamil Nadu as I will be giving it next year?

The M.Tech/ M.E admission in Tamil Nadu is done through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) exam. The TANCET Application forms are available from March- April every year. One can apply both online or offline.

TANCET 2016 Important Dates (Tentative)

• Commencement of Registration in Person / Internet: Start April, 2016
• Last Date for Registration through Internet: End April, 2016
• Receipt of Applications Registered through Internet: End April, 2016
• Last date for Registration at Co-ordinating Centres : End April, 2016
• Last date for Spot Registration at Chennai centre : End April , 2016
• Issue of Duplicate Hall Ticket in Co-ordinating Centres : Mid May 2016
• Issue of Duplicate Hall Ticket in Chennai : Mid May 2016
• Exam dates: Mid May 2016
• Result: Mid June, 2016

TANCET Eligibility Criteria:


For M. Tech/M.E –

One must have passed any one of the following with an aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates)

• B. Tech/B.E in the respective disciple

• MCA (3 years) after 10+2+3 year’s bachelor’s degree.

• MCA Lateral Entry (2 years) after 10+2+3 years degree in BCA or B.Sc. (Computer Science / Information Technology

• Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts,

• M.Sc. (5 years) Integrated Degree Programme.

• B.Sc. 3 years (Computer Science / Information Technology) and M.Sc. 2 years (Computer Science /Information Technology

• B.Pharm. / B.Sc (Agri. / Forestry / Horticulture / Fishery)

TANCET Exam Pattern:

The question paper comprises of 3 sections with Part 1 & 2 being compulsory while Part 3 will be on the respective chosen discipline/subject

Compulsory:

• Section 1:


30 questions with 1 mark for each correct answer

• Section 2:


30 questions with 1 mark for each correct answer

Discipline Wise:

• Section 3:


One need to choose a choice of a section out of 14 based on area of specialization and answer 40 Questions with 1 mark for each correct answer

Negative marking of 1/4 for every wrong answer
