American University Washington College of Law (WCL) is the law school of American University. It was established in 1896. The school is fully accredited by the American Bar Association, and a member of the AALS.

JD Admissions Requirements

Deadlines -

Listed below are the application deadlines for the fall 2016 entering class.

November 15: Application deadline for anyone applying for the December Early Decision Option.

January 15: Application deadline for anyone applying fo the January Early Decision Option.

January 15 : Application deadline for Public Interest/Public Service Scholarship, but applications may be accepted past that deadline on a case-by-case basis depending on timing.

March 1: Deadline for Need Access application for a AUWCL need-based grant.

March 1: Deadline for FAFSA as application for federal aid. Forms are available on-line from the financial aid office.

March 1: Priority Application Deadline.

December 31: Application Fee Waiver- any applications submitted by this deadline will have the $70.00 application fee automatically waived.

Only the application form needs to be submitted by this date-- the CAS report with transcript, letters of recommendation and LSAT score can follow later.

Eligibility Requirements-

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university prior to entering the law school and if you have taken the LSAT within the past five years

The LSAT is offered four times annually.

They accept the February, 2016 test for fall 2016 admission.

They will consider the June 2016 test on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants who graduated from college in the United States or Canada will need to register with the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) Law School Report service.

Applicants who hold a student visa or are applying for an I-20 visa must attend full time.

Full time is defined for these purposes as at least 12 credit hours per semester.

I-20 forms are not available until an applicant has been accepted and has paid a tuition deposit.
