James Clark School of Engineering Limited Enrollment Programs (LEP) Limited Enrollment Programs (LEP) at University of Maryland (UMD) is competitive majors that control enrollment numbers to maintain program quality. If you have earned 45 credits, then you must have successfully completed a specific set of courses called "gateway" requirements. Limited Enrollment Programs (LEP) Architecture Business Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences and Policy-Biodiversity and Conservation Communication Criminology and Criminal Justice Engineering (for students who apply to the Engineering School for Fall 2013 or prior) Engineering(for students who apply to the Engineering School for Spring 2014 and after) Government and Politics Journalism Landscape Architecture Psychology (for students who matriculated prior to fall 2013) Psychology (For students who matriculated to the University System of Maryland Fall 2013 and after) The following guidelines pertain to all Limited Enrollment Programs: -Only one 'gateway' or performance review course may be repeated to earn the required grade -f you will receives a grade of "W”, the course must be repeated. -You may apply only once to an LEP. -Students who were directly admitted and fail to meet the performance review criteria then he/she will be dismissed from the major and may not reapply. - You must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 after admission to an LEP. -Some programs require a higher grade point average at the 45-credit review process. Direct Admits: -Direct Admits are students admitted to an LEP as first-time freshmen. -In order to continue in the major, you must successfully complete a 45-credit review. -If a student is not directly admitted to an LEP, then he/she will be assigned to Letters and Sciences. -Students in Letters and Sciences wishing to major in an LEP will apply as internal transfer students. Internal or External Transfer Admits: -External transfers are those who want to apply to the University of Maryland and would like to major in an LEP. -Internal transfers are those who are already at the University of Maryland and would like to change majors to an LEP. -The admissions requirements for Internal and External Transfers are the same. In order to continue in the LEP major, candidates must successfully complete a 45-credit review. Internal or External Transfer Admits: Internal transfers are candidates already at the University who would like to change majors to an LEP. External transfers candidates who would like to major in an LEP. External transfer students apply to LEP's through the general application for admission by indicating the major(s) of interest. Spring walk-in hours in the LEP office are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 4pm starting February 9th and ending May 7th.
