The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) was established in the year 1986. It had started with just a membership of eighteen institutions. At the present time, it comprises of more than 400 colleges and universities. Programs Types Offered at HACU: Leadership Programs Research Capacity Building Faculty Research Programs Pre-Collegiate Programs Undergraduate & Graduate Research Internship/Fellowship Programs Scholarships: You have to meet the following criteria to meet the scholarship for programs offered at HACU- Demonstrate financial need (typically determined by FAFSA). Meet the specific criteria for the scholarships to which you are applying. Attend a HACU-member college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made. The scholarship programs it offers are as follows- Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship--$1,000 NASCAR/Wendell Scott Sr. Award--$2,200 Travelers Scholarship--$5,000 Membership: Any nonprofit tax-exempt institution of higher education whether it is a college or university, they can become a member of HACU. And as an individual, if you want to join HACU; you must be a faculty or staff person at a nonprofit institution of higher learning.
