Can you give me information about the In applying the statutory requirements of the Innovation Schools Act of Denver Public Schools??

Denver Public Schools is supports the total 27 innovation schools currently in the 2012-13 school year.
The innovation schools are provides unique programming ….DPS Board of Education approved three new innovation plans for schools that will open in August 2013.

DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS POLICY GUIDELINES ON INNOVATION QUALITY::

In applying the statutory requirements of the Innovation Schools Act, DPS should consider the following quality factors:
• Demonstrate evidence that the innovation plan will ensure the schools meets or exceeds academic standards.
• Provide evidence that the autonomies proposed in the innovation plan will lead to improved student performance.
• Demonstrate strong leadership capacity necessary to effectively implement the innovation plan.
• Provide a detailed leadership succession plan which engages the school’s parents and teachers to ensure consistency and stability in implementing the mission and vision of the innovation plan.
• Describe how the school culture and proposed management will support the professional growth of all teachers.
• Provide a plan to detail how innovation status will be leveraged to improve qualitative factors like school culture and parental involvement.
• Ensure all school policies and procedures promote the health and safety of the students.
• Demonstrate strong financial management practices that ensure operational and fiscal sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal and local laws. • Promote equity of access to high quality support services for all students including English language learners and special education students.
• Demonstrate a spirit of collaboration to promote the dissemination of innovation and best practices throughout the district.
