“I have learned through my personal experiences thus far that each new day represents a new opportunity for learning. Whether in a traditional learning environment or volunteer opportunities within the community, I have been able to acquire many useful life lessons. Honesty is the best policy; continuous effort is key to unlocking your potential; without trust you can’t continue to grow with another person. Life has taught me many things, and I believe you learn new things from new experiences. As every other child felt when they started school I, too, never thought it was anything significant. But as I grew older the knowledge really began to sink in and I started to really appreciate the Catholic education I was receiving.

Even though I believe that learning is a crucial aspect of someone’s life, I haven’t limited myself to only one of Florida State University’s characteristics. By joining various school clubs like drama and art clubs, participating in dance, being a school leader by joining the Student Government and being a member of S.A.L.T., a service organization for teens from my diocese, and helping with local charities and organizations with my youth group, I have embodied the type of well-rounded individual that Florida State has in its caring community. Volunteering at homeless shelters has shown me how to be a helper in any community. Global awareness allows me to be educated in conversation and in life. Leadership has allowed me to take the reigns of a situation and help to better it. If accepted to Florida State, I will continue to share these characteristics with the FSU community.

If you pay attention, you learn something new everyday. Eartha Kitt once said, "I am learning all of the time. The tombstone will be my diploma." If life were to take away everything that I had, whether its friends and family, money, or my home, I know that what I've learned can't be taken away from me. An education of any kind is a building block to the foundation that is your life.”
