For the sake of your knowledge I would like to tell you that the earlier college education was not open for women. Women's colleges were founded in the nineteenth-century when efforts were made in expanding educational opportunities for women. Then gradually colleges were made exclusively to provide education to women. On seeing the demand for more colleges, Oxford opened women institutes too at that time but with passing time they have now turned into co-educational ones with the introduction of gender equality in the society. Here I am listing the names of the women’s colleges which were opened by Oxford: All Female Colleges Oxford: Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford (co-educational in 1979) St Anne's College, Oxford (co-educational in 1979) St Hugh's College, Oxford (co-educational in 1986) Somerville College, Oxford (co-educational in 1994) Royal Holloway, University of London (co-educational in 1965) St Hilda's College, Oxford (co-educational in 2008)
