American Red Cross offers a program named as Nursing Assistant Training which is a certified program i.e. CAN (Certified Nurse Assistant) Nursing Assistant Training - Certified (CNA): Program Overview 4-week Red Cross CNA course It is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education All nursing supplies are provided with the exception of uniforms NAT clinical classes have a one instructor per ten student’s ratio The cost of taking the Nurse Assistant Competency Certification Exam is included in the tuition NAT program fee $1,300.00 Training Requirement Attend a mandatory orientation session Pass a reading test Have a criminal history report free of prohibitive offenses Complete a physical with a 2-step Mantoux Women who are pregnant must have a signed form from their OB physician stating that they are able to meet the occupational responsibilities The ability to stand for extensive periods of time Able to perform bending, pushing, pulling and be able to lift and move between 35 - 50 lbs The candidate must be 16 years of age before taking the Pennsylvania NAT Examination To register for mandatory orientation session, call on: (215) 405-8536 Contact: American National Red Cross 2025 E St NW, Washington, DC United States +1 202-303-4498 Map: |

The CAN Course details are mentioned below: In this course you will learn the following: CPR/FA/AED Infection control How to take vital signs Range of motion exercises How to be a valuable and adaptable employee Communication, teamwork and diversity skills for the workplace Important skills and techniques necessary to be a successful Nurse Assistant. Our course curriculum includes textbook lecture and in-depth instruction in the following areas: The Art of Caregiving Promoting Safety Providing Care Special Care Instructions Transitioning from Student to Employee The Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training course has two components. NAT Program Part 1 (Theory) The first part of our nurse assistant guidance takes place in the classroom. During classroom training, students will learn all aspects of patient care, through lectures as well as hands-on demonstrations and practice. Students are also certified in CPR, or CPRO in some locations. NAT Program Part 2 (Clinical) Upon completion of the classroom training students will begin the second part of the program which consists of clinical training. During clinical training students will work directly with patients in a health care facility. You will be supervised by a Licensed Nurse, who is licensed by the State as a Nurse Assistant Training Instructor. During your clinical rotation experience you will work side by side with other aides, nurses and medical professionals.
