Presently, India has 136 airports, of which 128 are owned by the AAI. AAI-managed airports can be categorized as:

International airports, including joint venture (JV) airports- 14
Domestic airports- 81
Customs airports- 8
Civil enclaves- 25

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) which is under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India.

It manages a total of 125 Airports, including 11 International Airports, 8 Customs Airports, 81 Domestic Airports and 25 civil enclaves at Military Airfields.
