I want the details of admission to PHD from IIT Bombay?

As you require details to get admission to PHD from IIT Bombay, I am providing you with the details as follows:


I am providing you with the online application procedure to get the admission for which you need to visit the official website and follow the instructions:

1. Registration
o Click 'Online Application' on PHD ONLINE Application Homepage
o This will take you to the "IITB External User Registration Portal".
o Click on "New user? Click here to register" button.
o Enter your email id with which you want to register with the portal.
o On clicking register, an email will be sent to the email id specified by you which will contain the activation URL.
o Click on the activation URL specified in the email and fill the personal details form to complete the registration process.
2. Login for registered applicant
o Registered Applicant should click 'ONLINE Application' on PHD ONLINE Application Homepage.
o Type in your Registered emailid and Password as registered with "IITB External User Registration Portal", and click 'Login'.
3. Filling of ONLINE Application by the Registered Applicant (after login)
o Enter departments (atleast one), personal details, research interest of your choice, valid gate score (if available), employment details etc.
o Either use 'Save And Continue Later' or 'Submit Finally' option.
o You can preview your application at every stage by clicking on 'Preview Form'.
o ONLINE Application will be processed only if 'Submit Finally' option is clicked.
o Applicant can correct any mistakes / make changes in the "finally submitted application" by clicking on the link "UnFreeze Application".
o Once the applicant clicks on unfreeze application, the application will be treated as Draft/Un-Submitted Application , which will allow the applicant to make changes.
o Very IMP : Please note that application form will NOT be considered for further processing if Applicant does not Submit the application form Finally, even if the applicant has filled it completely along with application fees payment.
o Do not keep the page idle for more than 30 minutes, otherwise the session will expire.
4. Documents to be Uploaded
o Upload scanned 3.5 x 4.5 photo (of type jpg/jpeg/png) with size less than 40 kb.
o Upload scanned Signature (of type jpg/jpeg/png) with size less than 10 kb.
o Upload scanned Marksheet of last semester/Consolidated Marksheet of the Qualifying Degree (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb.
o Upload scanned Caste Certificate [ OBC-NC/SC/ST ] if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb.
o Upload scanned PD certificate if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb.
o Upload scanned Sponsorship certificate if applicable (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb.
o Upload scanned Statement of Purpose (SoP) , (of type PDF) with size less than 500 kb, for all academic units : Statement of Purpose (SOP) is your opportunity to share with the admission committee your thoughts and feelings about Postgraduate studies at IIT Bombay including your preparation for the same. Briefly describe past project/ research work done by you. Restrict yourself to 500-600 words. The personal SOP will aid the admission committee in evaluating your application.

(i) If you are applying for more than one academic discipline, you may include separate SoP for each discipline.
(ii) If you are applying to CTARA or CSRE, you need to upload Statement of Purpose as well as research proposal.
(iii) If you are applying to Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, you are required to submit a sample of your recently published writings on a relevant topic or research proposal (1500 words) on a topic of your interest in place of Statement of Purpose. The proposal should contain a) problem identification, b) brief review of literature, and c) methodology.
(iv). Candidates applying to IDC are required to submit a SOP along with a 1500 word proposal that should specify (a) research area (b) brief review of literature and (c) methodology. The candidates have also to submit a recent work or paper related to their area of research. In addition to SOP
o Try to scan it using 200dpi so that the document will automatically compress upto required Upload Size.
5. Payment (after login)
o Both Demand Draft (DD) and Online payment options (SBI online banking OR Credit/Debit Cards) are available.
o Either DD payment OR Online payment can be made only after final submission of ONLINE Application Form.
o Application Fee is Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST & Female Applicants)
o DD payment can be made by clicking on 'DD Payment'.
o Online payment can be made by clicking on 'Pay Online'.
o If you have made payment through DD, submit the DD along with a copy of the application in person at the counter of Academic Office, IIT Bombay or mailed only by Registered Post or Speed Post to the following address so as to reach the Academic Office, IIT Bombay on or before 15-10-2015.
